Introduction:

There is no specific time in a child’s life when learning to read commences.
Everything that happens right from the very beginning of life shapes an
        infant’s path to success.

You are in the best position to guide your child’s learning right from
the start. When you provide an environment that is stimulating, loving,
positive, fun and safe you give your child the best possible chance to
        learn easily and freely.

“Learning to read is critical to a child’s (and an adult’s) well-being. Children
and adults who cannot read at a comfortable level experience significant
difficulties mastering many types of academic content and are at substantial
                                risk of failure in school²”.

Approximately 17% to 20% of children have a significant reading
disability; you can ensure your child successfully begins their path
to literacy success well before they enter formal schooling. This can
be achieved by teaching language and pre reading skills from an early
age and guiding your child through specific learning to read activities
ensuring they successfully acquire literacy skills by five years of age.

The method used in this book incorporates a ‘whole child’ developmental
approach. Children’s language, physical, social, emotional and cognitive
skills are inter-connected and all necessary for successful literacy
        acquisition.

Reading is considered the most important skill a child needs to
learn at school, first children learn to read and then they read to
                                         learn.

Be confident that you can teach your child to read successfully. The
ability to read easily and fluently is a gift your child they will carry with
        them for life.
